Streats Cafe Singapore: Experience the Taste of Hong Kong Food and Dim Sum

Streats serves popular Hong Kong, Macau, Indonesian, and Asian street foods. They have a wide array of menus from traditional dim sum, noodles, pasta, and palatable fanfares in their halal-certified restaurant.

First Impressions

You can easily spot the restaurant when you enter West Mall in Bukit Batok. It is located at the center of the first level of the mall occupying about three units of space.

The restaurant has a prominent front-of-house with its unique decorations of refurbished bicycles along its perimeter. You can see a big display of their promotions and a host stand where their menu sits on top.

Their walls are made up of shelves filled with racks of fruits, kitchen ingredients, plant ornaments, and other things.

The Staff

It only took a few minutes of waiting before a hostess came to greet us and lead us to our table. She was friendly and courteous. She provided us with their menu and recommends their current promotion.

The Service

Food delivery was exceptionally fast. The server was able to place our drinks and first batch of food within five minutes. The rest of our orders came in a reasonable time.

The Food

Custard Baos is something that I immediately craved when I saw it from their menu. I only had custard baos from the frozen section of FairPrice supermarket and I am curious how these bao variation really taste like.

The buns were served in a bamboo steamer and is still steamy hot. The buns were soft and the first bite almost scalded me because the custard filling was very hot. The custard filling was rich and creamy with the right amount of sweetness. Two pieces of these culinary delight are definitely not enough.

Next we have a hot plate of Hashbrowns. Their version of hashbrowns are like potato puffs that were fried until golden brown and topped with chopped spring onions. It goes well with chili sauce or cheese dip.

Their Fried Noodles was served on a rattan plate with banana leaf. The noodles were a bit oily but was definitely tasty and springy. It got loads of vegetables, caramelized onion, and prawns. You can savor the smoky aroma like it just went out straight from the wok. It was topped with a nice sunnyside-up fried egg and garnished with pieces of crackers, and slices of cucumber, and tofu. It also includes two sticks of pork satay with its chunky satay sauce.

The Seafood Fried Rice was something else. It was a combination of freshly fried prawns, cuttlefish cuts, crab meat sticks, and scrambled eggs, fused with hot steamy white rice. It packs a lot of flavor and goes superbly well with three sticks of pork satay. It was topped with one sunnyside-up fried egg and garnished with pieces of crackers and slices of cucumber and onion.

The meal was never complete without the refreshing cold Milk Tea with Grass Jelly. It was very cooling and you can smell its brewed tea flavor.
