Let us do a Chateraise review. Chateraise is a famous patisserie from Tokyo, Japan with more than 500 stores nationwide. The ingredients that they use for all their products were collaborated with Japanese local farmers to boost their local produce and pick the best and healthiest ingredients in their desserts.
First Impressions
The Chateraise outlet in Hillion has a simplistic layout. They have a very small area for dining as most of their customers buy their goodies to go. Those who dine-in are usually there to hang out while enjoying their coffee and cakes. And we are one of those.
You can easily get caught with their wide array of visually-tempting cakes and sweet treats from their cake display. They sell whole cakes for any occasion.
They also have single-serve cake slices of the whole cakes they sell and other special confections.
You can also get mesmerized by their collection of creative and hand-crafted cakes and other delectable desserts.
And an assortment of different pastries and baked goodies. They also sell ice cream and other frozen treats.
The Staff
When we got there, all the tables were occupied but there were a couple of tables where their "customers" were simply chatting and not really consuming any of their items. And despite waiting for more than 10 minutes, not one of their staff assisted us.
Also, when we decided to order first, it felt like the order-taker was being cold to us. I don't know if she was tired of working but still, that is not the way to treat customers.
The Service
We were dissatisfied with their service. From order-taking to serving our food. Maybe because they are youngsters who do not grasp the concept of customer service. I hope their management will notice this and do something about it.
The Food
Anyway, this was what we came for... their luscious and tempting cakes. My daughter wanted to recommend to us Chateraise's bestsellers. She particularly wanted Mommy to try a slice of Legendary Fresh Cream Cake. She said it is so good that she will order the same thing. And she was right!
This elegant single-serve cream cake was topped with strawberries freshly picked from Japan. The texture of the sponge cake was smooth and it melts-in-your-mouth. Every bite seems to be like a sinless indulgence.
Legendary Fresh Cream Cake was priced at S$ 5.10 per slice.
Legendary Fresh Cream Cake
Made with authentic Belgium Couverture chocolate, truffles, and smooth white chocolate fresh cream that you can actually smell the harmony of fragrant sweet chocolates. You can enjoy the crispy texture in between the layers. Topped with crushed ganache chocolate, this decadent chocolate delight will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth craving.
Crispy Chocolate Cake was priced at S$ 4.70 per slice.
Crispy Chocolate Cake
This heavenly taste of soft, creamy, and fresh layered cream cake is a must-try. Especially if you are into Mille Crepes because you will truly like these layers and layers of cream and smooth crepes of White Zebra. At the bottom was a soft and fluffy sponge cake used as the base of this extremely delectable confection.
White Zebra was priced at S$ 4.70.
Hazelnut Latte was served hot but it had some cold cream on top of it. It was smooth but too sweet that we need to add more hot water to dilute the sweetness a bit.
Hazelnut Latte was priced at S$ 5.50.
Our Take
All the confections we tried were awfully awesome. We highly recommend the Legendary Fresh Cream and the White Zebra.
Their staffs need to undergo more training in customer service.
Operations
They are open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. They accept all major credit cards, NETS, and cash payments.
