If you are a fan of Korean dramas, you might have seen CoffeeSmith in the background of some scenes of "It's OK. That's Love", "Punch", "Sweet Stranger and Me", and others.
CoffeeSmith is a famous Korean coffee chain from Seoul, South Korea dating back to 2008. They are well-known for their intense but smooth flavor of blending five different kinds of high-quality Arabica coffee beans with craftsman's skill.
First Impressions
CoffeeSmith has a shopfront sign that standout so you most likely won't miss it at the 2nd level of Westgate. Their interior design is defined by simplicity with subtle sophistication. They have an open ceiling concept so the cafe space looks bigger.
The tables were arranged in such a way that there is adequate space in between and you will feel comfortable while hanging out.
The Staff
They appeared to be short-handed but the server was friendly. She was the one who ushered us to our table and told us to see the menu from the counter. When we approached the counter, we were greeted by the same person. She was very patient with us since we were first-timers and their menu looked a bit overwhelming because of their wide selection of drinks, desserts, sandwiches, and other delectable treats.
The Service
Ordering was a breeze and the amount of time we waited until our orders were served was reasonably fast. The payment was upfront at the counter so when you are done, you can simply leave the cafe. No fuss.
The Food
My wife is an avid cheesecake fanatic, so the moment she saw this Basque Burnt Cheesecake on the menu, she immediately asked for it.
When it was served, I was amazed at how smooth and clean it was cut. It looked like the perfect slice. This Basque-style (Basque, by the way, is a region between France and Spain) burnt cheesecake has a rich dark brown surface and was crustless. It has a creamy filling with a luscious vanilla flavor that blends with the caramelized exterior. The texture inside was almost molten that it melts in your mouth.
Basque Burnt Cheesecake was priced at S$ 8.50.

Next, we had a bingsu. Yes! They have bingsus on their menu and we ordered the Choco Brownie Bingsu. Bingsus always surprises me because of how they are creatively prepared just like when we had our taste of Thai-style bingsus.
Anyway, this Choco Brownie Bingsu was a bowl filled with heaps of milk-flavored ice shavings that were smooth and melts in your mouth. It was then covered with chocolate powder with just the right sweetness.

Then it was crowned with a scoop of delicious vanilla ice cream. As if it was not chocolatey enough, a rich, smooth, and syrupy chocolate sauce was generously poured all throughout.
It was then garnished with a couple of chocolate-coated biscuit sticks and large chunks of chocolate brownies.
The chocolate brownies were dense, fudgy, and super chocolatey. You will love taking a spoonful of shaved milk ice with a piece of brownie. There was also a layer of chocolate powder before you hit the bottom of the shaved milk ice stack and you will be surprised to know that there is more chocolate than meets the eye!
Choco Brownie Bingsu was priced at S$ 15.90.
For our drinks, my wife got a cup of Cafe Cappuccino. It came with an impressive coffee art that used a "free pour" technique to form a pattern. It has a bold coffee taste and some sweetness from the naturally occurring lactose sugar in the milk they used.
Cafe Cappuccino was priced at S$ 6.50.

The Iced Chocolate drink was for me as if I didn't have enough chocolate. It was icy cold and has a rich chocolatey flavor that was not too sweet.
Iced Chocolate was priced at S$ 7.50.
Our Take
It was a pleasurable and relaxing experience and we love and appreciate the ambiance better than Starbucks because of the wide spacing between tables.
We highly recommend their Choco Brownie Bingsu and we can't wait to try the rest on their menu.
Operations
They are open daily from 8:30 AM until midnight. They accept all major credit cards, NETS, and cash payments.
