The Manhattan Fish Market is a chain of American-style seafood restaurant that serves signature dishes like the Manhattan Fish 'N Chips and the legendary Manhattan Flaming Seafood Platter.
First Impressions
The restaurant's location at Causeway Point in Woodlands is quite unique. They are at the island section of the second level between forking pathways. The dining area forms a V-like pattern against a glass divider on one side and against a feature wall on the other side.
It was noisy as the chatters from the customers inside and the shoppers outside blends together in an annoying way. But as you get settled down, you get used to the noise.
The Staff
One of the staff is a Filipina and when we arrived at the restaurant she immediately recognized that we are from the Philippines as well. She greeted us in our own language and ushered us to our tables. We showed her our Eatigo online reservation to avail of their discount.
She was very happy to serve us. A couple of our dishes required flaming and she put on a show for us to see how she does it using a butane torch.
The Service
We were very happy with the service of our server. She paid extra attention to us. She also made sure that all our orders were complete and often asks if we need anything else.
It was also a plus factor that the discount we reserved from Eatigo was recognized and accepted. We had encountered problems before with other restaurants. The payment was also a breeze and our server also got us some vouchers for our next visit.
The Food
First on our food list would be the Salmon 'N Cheese. This salmon fillet was hand-battered and fried until golden brown. The batter was appetizing and complements the salmon very well. When you cut a portion, you can see white steam coming out from the inside. It was topped with a special cheesy and tangy sauce. It was served with hot crispy fries, fresh lettuce, and cheese dip.
Salmon 'N Cheese
If you love deep-fried battered fish, you can't go wrong with this Seabass 'N Cheese. The fish was crispy on the outside and the fish meat was fluffy. Taken together with the special sauce topping and you will experience a succulent fusion of tangy and flavorful seabass. The fries that came with it were topped with melted cheddar cheese.
The Grilled Dory was pan-grilled then torched with flame together with the King Prawns. It has that smoky aroma that makes your mouth water. The fish was succulent when eaten on its own but if you prefer to fine-tune the taste, you can spread some of the special sauce toppings or squeeze and drizzle some juice from the lemon wedge. The prawns were buttered on the inside. They were big, meaty, and lip-smacking good.
It came with Garlic Herb Rice which was very fragrant. Perfect for grilled fish any time of the day.
The Grilled Chicken Fillet was burnt and was not enticing to eat at all. I wanted to have it replaced but my wife said that it's fine and that there is no need to bother. The Fried Salmon Strips were nice and seasoned with spices. A bit salty but still delicious.
I like the Fried Country Mushrooms. It was crunchy and chewy at the same time. You can taste the mushroom goodness fused with the flavor of their special batter.
