Amo Restaurant Singapore: Exceptional Italian Restaurant by Michelin Star Chef-Restaurateur Beppe De Vito

A social destination serving up a sumptuous slice of original Italian food and drinks, inspired by authentic traditions and modern techniques. Friends and large groups can enjoy their wide variety of extraordinary Italian antipasti, true artisan pasta, homemade pizzas, and large mains. Amo is an Italian concept by Michelin Star Chef-Restaurateur Beppe De Vito.

First Impressions

It has a rustic but swanky interior design that gives a chic but casual vibe. You can find a well-stocked bar at the entrance which is perfect for those coming in for some drinks to knock back after work.

From the refectory tables, you can take a glimpse of some culinary action from their open kitchen. You can also see their stone oven fired with wood for baking perfect pizzas.

The Staff

You will be greeted by their friendly staff but you need to undergo their strict COVID-19 dining-in protocols before you can be seated. It would be best to make a reservation, especially during lunchtime because the crowd builds up pretty fast.

The Service

Food preparations were done meticulously and the presentation was simple but creative. Also, you don't need to wait that long before your orders are served. They serve the courses systematically which is very impressive.

The Food

For my antipasti, I ordered the Crispy Calamari with Sumac and Sundried Tomato Aioli. The calamari itself was crispy with every bite and the meat was firm and chewy. The generous amount of sumac sprinkled on the calamari gave a pleasant tangy taste with a hint of citrus fruitiness.

The dip that came with it was the Sundried Tomato Aioli which was a simple blend of mayo, sun-dried tomato, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil. It gave the calamari an intense flavor that makes it so addictive.

Crispy Calamari with Sumac and Sundried Tomato Aioli was priced at S$ 21.00.

For my main course, I tried the Grilled Angus Beef Tagliata with Rucola and Parmigiano Salad. The beef was grilled in perfect doneness and the redness of the meat is just beautiful. It was mostly lean, but it still boasts tenderness and juiciness. Its flavor levels up with the right amount of whole grain mustard.

The bed of rucola topped with fine shreds of Parmigiano adds contrast to the tagliata's bold flavor.

Grilled Angus Beef Tagliata with Rucola and Parmigiano Salad was priced at S$ 48.00

I didn't order any dessert and got a Cherry Tomatoes and Radish Salad with White Balsamic instead to complement my grilled Angus beef tagliata. The salad ingredients were fresh. The thin radish slices were zesty and the cherry tomatoes were really tasty. The white balsamic vinegar has a light slightly sweet flavor that goes very well with the radish and cherry tomatoes.

Cherry Tomatoes and Radish Salad with White Balsamic was priced at S$ 12.00.

I got a tall glass of Ginger Ale as my drink. It has a sour and citrusy note that is definitely refreshing and irresistible.

Ginger Ale was priced at S$ 6.00.

Overall, the dining experience was pleasant. The service was efficient and the food was amazingly good. I highly recommend the Crispy Calamari with Sumac and Sundried Tomato Aioli and the Grilled Angus Beef Tagliata with Rucola and Parmigiano Salad.

I will definitely come back to try some of their famous wood-fired pizzas.
