Chir Chir Chicken Singapore: Is this Korean Fried Chicken Restaurant Good

Chir Chir (pronounced Chi-Re Chi-Re) is a famous casual restaurant chain from Seoul, South Korea specializing on unique and great-tasting freshly-cooked chicken dishes. They popularized the culture of Chimaek among younger generations which means having fun eating fried chicken and drinking cold beer.

First Impressions

The interior is vibrant and themed with anything about chicken. Decors like trays of eggs on the walls, chicken and eggs caricatures, and even chicken toys made of rubber. You can also see prominent scribbles on the walls written in Hangul, the Korean language.

K-Pop music can be heard playing at the background. Their tables have push-button transmitters to transmit the table number and to call the attention of any Chir Chir's staff.

The Staff

I am always impressed by food staffs that have the initiative to go to the queue line to talk to their customers and hand them menus so they can already make their food selection while waiting. And this is exactly what happened to us. The crew was very busy at that moment but you can still see their eyes smiling even if they were wearing face masks.

There was this one staff however, the one who actually served our food, who does not care about customer needs. When we asked for something he just nods as if he acknowledged our request but we ended up waiting for nothing. When we saw him again and gestured to follow-up on our request, he simply made a hand sign to tell us to wait. But then again, nothing was done. It was really frustrating and we opted to request from another staff.

The Service

Food service was pretty quick and whenever we need anything, we simply press the button on our table and someone will be attending to us. Payments are done by going straight to the cashier which makes checking out faster.

The Food

Food dishes were surprisingly huge in portion that it can be shared. For starters, we ordered for their bestseller Chir Cheese Fries. Let me tell you, this is not your average cheese fries. As if crisp and hot fries covered with umami cheese is not enough, this unique dish was mixed with diced cucumbers, tomatoes, and olives. Then drizzled with more cheese shavings for that real cheese overload. Garnished with crisp celery stalks and special white dip.

Chir Cheese Fries was priced at S$ 10.40

They even provide fancy finger tongs to easily pick the cheesy and sticky fries without getting your fingers “dirty.”

Next we got one whole Crispy Fried Chicken. It may look plain but this golden brown delectable dish lives up to its name. It was covered with light batter that was very crispy and crunchy. The chicken meat was tender, juicy, and smashing in flavor. It came with special dips of mustard and salsa. It was really "clucking" good.

Crispy Fried Chicken was priced at S$ 28.20.

We also tried their Garlicky Soy Chicken that packs a punch. This fried chicken was marinated and cooked with special soy sauce then generously topped with fragrant garlic flakes and chopped spring onions. The saucy batter made the chicken meat tasty to the bone.

Garlicky Soy Chicken was priced at S$ 30.40.

If you want to indulge yourself with some pasta while craving for chicken then you will enjoy the fusion of the two in this scrumptious platter of goodness called Chir Chir Mi Chir This unique dish is perfect if you are feeling ravenous.

An eye-catching treat piled with Cajun fried chicken tenders and spaghetti then flooded with rich, creamy, and cheesy sauce. It was garnished with flowerets of broccoli with slices of mild chili and spring onions. This can be a very filling meal for two.

Chir Chir Mi Chir was priced at S$ 32.90.

And last but definitely not the least was the mouth-watering Nest Snow. This toothsome dish features crispy chicken tenders stacked around sweet and chunky potato puree and topped with a sexy crown of whipped cream. It was surrounded with luscious cream sauce garnished with olives and diced cucumbers and tomatoes. As if that was not enough, it was finished off with a shower of shaved mozzarella cheese.

It was a bit pricey, yes. But trying this was worth it and can be shared by at least two people.

Nest Snow was priced at S$ 32.90.
