Last year around July, we celebrated our Boss’ birthday. It was his wish to have dinner with our team at one of the biggest names in seafood restaurant here in Singapore, the Long Beach Seafood Restaurant.
True enough, the restaurant has been legendary and has cultivated its image since 1946 and invented several award-winning signature seafood dishes. When looking for any dish related to seafood, this restaurant would be on the top of the list. To name a few of the signature dishes they have the Black Pepper Crab, Chili Crab, Canadian Crab, Snow Crab with Pepper Sauce, Claypot XO Sauce Sri Lankan Yellow Roe Crab, Steamed Scottish Bamboo Clam, Scotland Scallop, Tiger Sea Mantis, and BBQ Nilotica Red Fish.
They have established a total of five branches here in Singapore. The one that we visited was the place near the McDonald’s restaurant at Kallang Park whose nearest train station is the Stadium MRT station.
First Impressions
We reserved an exclusive chamber for dining complete with two big round tables enough to serve 20 people. They also have an area for non-exclusive dining where you can also find a collection of aquariums that houses a variety of live sea creatures. Most of the creatures are crustaceans and notable among them would be the majestic Alaskan King Crabs which were air-flown live overseas.Air-flown Live Alaskan King Crab
The Staff
The reserved banquet comes with full services of two waitresses. They helped to decorate dishes preparatory to serving and attend to our every dining need. They never fail to deliver with a smile that makes you feel more like guests rather than just customers. The Service
The services rendered to us were seamless and no complaint can be made against the waitresses or the restaurant as a whole. We made certain special requests to which they gladly helped. The Food
Among the seafood specialty of this restaurant, the most sought-after delight of my Boss would be the Classic White Pepper Live Alaskan King Crab. It was priced at 165 Singapore Dollars per kilogram at that time. We ordered two sets that weigh approximately three kilograms each. So that’s a whopping 495 Singapore Dollars for each Classic White Pepper Live Alaskan King Crab. But before the highlight of the night was served, there were a few succulent dishes that were placed on the table first to tease our palate even more. The entrée was a big platter full of tempting treats that were presented in a way that you would hesitate to take any portion out of its place. It is simply a masterpiece made of spring rolls, prawns, fish fillets, and scallops.
Some seafood meats were steamed fresh while the others were deep-fried to perfection. It was the mixture of a variety of seafood meats, spices, blended sauces that makes every sampler a treat.

Next in line was Steamed Live Scottish Bamboo Clam with minced garlic. If you fancy eating steamed seafood meat then you will like this delicacy. Usually, the meat is eaten whole from the shell together with the garlic for you to appreciate the exotic taste.

And finally, the star of the night arrived! We were all taken aback by the huge serving size of this famous Classic White Pepper Live Alaskan King Crab. It took us a while staring at its beauty before we convince ourselves that it’s time to gobble up the goodness out of its reddish shell. The meat is really tender and very tasty. You will tend to chew it slowly so the taste will linger on your taste buds longer.
We concluded the dinner with a “foggy” dry-iced sweet red glutinous rice topped with vanilla ice cream. I did say foggy since they were served with dry ice that produces the fogging effect. It truly was nice way of presenting a cold dessert. The glutinous rice was so rich and the flavor was fused with the sweetness of the vanilla ice cream.
